Dissertation Michael Schober - Presentation of the exposé

On December 6, 2023, project team member Michael Schober presented the proposal for his dissertation. As part of a dissertation at the Montanuniversität Leoben, students are required to develop and present a research plan for their doctorate within their first year of study. Michael Schober's dissertation is supervised and conducted at the Department of General, Analytical, and Physical Chemistry within the Chair of General and Analytical Chemistry.

Michael Schober presented the plan of his dissertation titled "Elemental and isotopic advancements of mass spectrometry in archaeometry: methods and applications" in the presence of Johanna Irrgeher (supervisor), Markus Puschenreiter (mentor), and Thomas Prohaska (Vice-Rector & Head of the Chair for General and Analytical Chemistry). The presentation took place publicly at the Montanuniversität Leoben and was attended not only by project employees but also by other interested persons.

The "United by Crisis?"-project takes up a significant portion of Michael Schober's time within the dissertation. He not only presented his work plan for the project but also the progress achieved so far. As he is not only interested in chemistry but also in history, another one of his favourite topics is included in his dissertation as well – the history of mass spectrometry.

The presentation was very well received by all attendees, all questions regarding the "United by Crisis?"-project and the history of mass spectrometry were answered successfully. The written exposé was submitted for review at the end of February.
